- We cannot activate the valvetronic actuator with the scantool, the valvetronic position is incorrect and setting codes. Wiring and voltages to actuator are ok. Engine will not start due to incorrect valvetronic position. Recommend replacement of valvetronic actuator and eccentric shaft
- Replace eccentric shaft and valvetronic actuator assembly
- Program new software into DMe after replacement per bulletin SI B12 14 10
- fuel line #4 nut developed a crack when torqued to spec
- We tried a new IVM as the one in the car has been exposed to water (drain for RH computer well under cowl had blocked drains), still unable to perform initial startup. We check the wiring harness and swapped it with a known good one and no difference. We thought it was possible the software tolerances were not letting us perform it, there are 3 separate TSBs for valvetronic faults requiring a DEM software update. We could not have the software updated due to immobilizer bus faults and key switch responding erratically. We then proceeded to diagnose and recitfy the immobilizer bus issue (we found a break in the ribbon cable to the switch from the CAS module – replaced that, still having bus issues, traced the circuit, removed the comfort access module, no change, wiring from CAS to JB were ok, found the outer door handles all on the same bus – RF ended up being shorted out. Immobilizer bus issue fixed. Software updated – still could not perform valvetronic startup. ECU is internally damaged.
- Found IVM still ok
- Install new engine ecu and have it programmed to the car
- Program new DME (remote access programming)
- Had to fully remove intake to replace DME
- Discount ECU labor and programming per Jeff
